“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” ~ Ephesians 4:2
My father used to warn, “Son? Someday, someone is going to shut that big mouth of yours!” Now, I am not saying that my dad was always right. He did however, possess a keen knack for boiling things down to the bare truths when required.
All these years later, I think I am getting a better understanding of what my dad was trying to tell me. You see, we men do not have to apologize for speaking truth to one another. but, to speak truth without humbled patience leads to domination, discord and bullying.
Those who know me well, know that I am not into that syrupy gooey lovey dovey crap of communicating when someone misuses God’s doctrines or gossips against my loved ones or when unrighteous acts are being acted out against the church and the country I love.
But, God does tell me (and you my Christian friend) that we are to fulfill this verse in how we communicate with each other!
“Lord, help me to see my Christian friends in the same light that You see me; a mere man made of dust but filled with your power to walk rightly before You. Amen!”
